IPAC’23 / PARTICLE ACCELERATOR PROJECTS AND UPGRADES 46 Project Region America Project Location Lemont, Illinois, USA Project Type Project Update Project Description The APS-U is a comprehensive upgrade of the existing APS facility centered on the complete replacement of the storage ring with a new Multi Bend Achromat design, new insertion devices and front ends including diagnostics, and multiple beamline upgrades to take advantage of the new capabilities provided by the Upgrade. Construction scheduled to start 25/07/2019 Estimated Project Cost $815M Estimated Construction Duration Installation of the new machine will start in April 2023. Type of Equipment to be Purchased Most of the equipment orders have been placed and received at this time through best value procurements, and have ranged across everything needed at a light source facility.
